This is Kiko and owner Nikkola, who’ve been on an incredible journey together learning to jump. And look at them fly now!
Kiko is very much a family horse, also ridden and jumped by daughter Nikkola. And now youngest daughter Annie – who has been having lessons on the horses at Ranch Siesta Los Rubios – has reached a level to be able to ride him as well. And is doing so brilliantly! This is in a lesson with some of our other talented young riders.

At the end of a lovely long hill canter the riders met the goats, deer and incredible views!
Arezu, Caroline’s new young Arab in training for future endurance competitions, went on her first longer ride to the mountain trails. Here she is happy after a long canter up the trails, meeting the goats for the first time and everyone enjoying of course the views. Well done Arezu on your first time at the top. Watch this space, she is a super talented horse.
VIDEO : this is new boy Julio having his shoes done by Rory the farrier, and enjoying the refreshing fan wafting through his mane as he does. Straight out of the salon!
Wow Lilly had a lot of birthday party fun at the Ranch with her friends. If you’d like to book a private 2 hour pony / riding party get in touch. Everything is designed around your group, age and level of riding to make sure its both safe and fun for everyone. With time at the end of course for food and cake and presents!
New pony Charlie (with Jamila on board) and jumping star Dolly (with Jazmin as jockey) went to a local showjumping competition in San Roque recently and put in some great performances. Charlie has only been learning to jump for a few weeks with us so it was very much just about him getting some experience. He did really well, in fact the sheep in the field next door were of more concern to him and spooky than the jumps.
Well done to these wonderful sisters and their horses.
We have many adult jumping lessons groups running at the Ranch for different levels.
On our main photo you can see experienced team Nikki and Sen really flying.
And here we introduce you to Sylvia and her new horse Lord, a fledgling partnership (they missed out on quality time together during the 10 weeks of lockdown 2020!) and so they only started learning to jump not very long ago. Patience and practice has led to this fantastic level, relaxed and in harmony with each other. They started with schooling and poles and have progressed up at a steady pace to ensure that Lord is fit, confident and enjoying his jumping. He’s a big horse but not always so bold and the lessons have been wonderful to watch, seeing him find his form, shape and pace (and of course, bravery) to move up to these big obstacles.
It’s not often we get rain in summer in this part of Spain but when the weather forecast suddenly showed a downpour, it was all hands to the hay to get it moved under cover to save it! Thank you to all our community of hay helpers for stepping in for a bit of a fitness workout before the rain came down.
